DHAKA, July 24, 2019 (BSS)-Awami League lawmakers and leaders-workers have
been asked to remain alert and carry out campaign against the spread of child
lifting rumours and mass beating, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister
Obaidul Quader.

“The government has taken strong stance against spreading child lifting
rumours. Party lawmakers and leaders-activists have been given necessary
instruction to raise awareness against the bad effects of spreading rumours
in their localities,” Quader said while briefing journalists at his
secretariat office this afternoon.

A few incidents have taken place recently, he said, adding that people were
injured, even killed and the government has taken strong stance against it.
The perpetrators of these incidents must be brought under the law, he added.

“Some measures have already been taken by the government . . .
organizationally we have also taken some steps. I believe the situation will
come under control soon,” said Quader.

About repairing of flood-affected roads, he said the roads-highways that
have been damaged in the flood will be fixed completely before Eid-ul-Azha.

“Roads-highways will be fixed one week ahead of Eid-ul-Azha . . . the
ministry has already constituted a monitoring team to oversee the repairing
work,” said the road transport and bridges minister.

Quader said the outbreak of dengue has taken a very terrifying form and the
health ministry has been told to take steps for bringing effective mosquito
killing medicine from neighbouring country immediately, to control dengue.
The AL general secretary said mayors of the two city corporations have been
told to be more responsible in controlling dengue.

Replying to a question about the affiliation of seven colleges with Dhaka
University, Quader said the Prime Minister has been informed of the matter
and a decision will be taken after her return.

He requested the students not to create any road blockade to mount the
suffering of the common people. He also requested the students to refrain
from boycotting classes and examinations.

Despite severe illness of her husband, education minister Dr Dipu Moni will
hold meeting with the agitating students in a day or two to solve the issue,
he added.
