Bangladesh A wins 3rd one-day to hit back in series

DHAKA, July 24, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh A bounced back in the five-match one-day series against Afghanistan A in a grand style, beating the visitors by seven wickets in the third match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.

Pace bowler Abu Jayed Rahi claimed 4-28 while off-spinner Mahedi Hasan bagged 3-24 as Bangladesh A wrapped up Afghanistan A for paltry 122 in 32.4 overs before overhauling the target in just 30.3 overs losing three wickets.

Having crushed by the opponents by 10 wickets and 4 wickets in the first two matches that created a huge uproar, this victory finally helped the Bangladesh A to keep alive in the series. The series is now at 2-1 in Afghans favour.

Despite wrapping up the tourists in below par total, Bangladesh A was in tricky situation initially being reduced to 48-3. Fazle Mahmud and Afif Hossain then helped the side steady the innings and took the side home, sharing 85-run for the undefeated fourth wicket stand.

Mahmud was not out on 57, while Afif was on 21. Captain Imrul Kayes who opened the innings was the other notable scorer with 23. Fareed Ahmed, Karim Janat and Zia-ur-Rehman took one wicket apiece for Afghans.

Opener Ibrahim Zadran who gave Bangladesh A nightmare in the first two matches was the highest scorer for Afghans in third one-day match too with 25 runs. Sharafuddin Ahmed scored 17 while Darwish Rasooli made 16.
