Major rivers cross danger level at 21 more points across country

DHAKA, July 23, 2019 (BSS) – Major rivers crossed danger marks at 21 more
points across the country, according to a bulletin of Flood Forecasting and
Warning Centre (FFWC) issued here today.

Water levels at 32 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and
Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 59 stations recorded fall.

All the major rivers of the country are in falling trend except the Surma-
Kushiyara rivers, the FFWC said adding, the Jamuna, Ganges-Padma Rivers may
continue falling, while the Surma-Kushiyara rivers may continue rising in
next 24 hours. The Brahmaputra river may remain steady in the next 24 hours.

Flood situation in Gaibandha, Jamalpur, Bogra, Tangail, Serajganj,
Manikganj, Rajbari, Faridpur and Munshiganj districts may improve in next 24
hours.

Among the 93 monitored stations, water level at two river stations have
been registered steady, the bulletin added.

The Surma at Kanaighat, Sylhet and Sunamganj, the Kushiyara at Amalshid,
Sheola and Sherpur- Sylhet, the Titas at B.Baria, the Meghna at Chandpur, the
Dharla at Kurigram, the Ghagot at Gaibandha, the Brahmaputra at Chilmari, the
Jamuna at Fulchari, Bahadurabad, Sariakandi, Kazipur, Serajganj and Aricha,
the Atrai at Baghabari, the Dhaleswari at Elasin, the Padma at Goalundo and
Bhagyakul are flowing above danger level 67cm, 5cm, 36cm, 18cm, 32cm, 30cm,
21cm, 2cm, 12cm, 17cm, 13cm, 37cm, 43cm, 25cm, 24cm, 21cm, 9cm, 55cm, 71cm,
37cm and 6cm respectively.
