Female journalists’ training on digital Bangladesh held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 23, 2019 (BSS) – A daylong training course on ‘Digital
Bangladesh Issues’ for female journalists was held at the Circuit House
conference room in the city on Monday.

The access to information (a2i) programme of the Prime Minister’s Office
and Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) jointly organised the training course
participated by thirty female journalists of four districts in Rangpur
division.

Presided over by Director General of PIB and noted journalist Zafar Wazed,
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alam Mahmood attended the
event as chief guest.

Chief News Editor of the News24 Shahnaz Munni, Senior News Editor of
Channel i Mir Masarur Zaman, Consultant of a2i programme Adnan Faisal and PIB
Instructor Abdul Mannan conducted different sessions as resource persons.

They discussed use of digital methods in journalism, digital Bangladesh,
a2i programme, information rights laws and policies and ethics of journalism
and objective reporting on digital Bangladesh issues at local levels.

Zafar Wazed said digital Bangladesh is one of the ten special initiatives
of the Prime Minister and the common people have already started reaping
enormous benefits of digitization.

“The digital Bangladesh will go a long way in future with assistance of the
mass media,” he said adding that many female journalists are working at local
levels despite facing many obstacles in the profession of journalism.

He called upon female journalists to highlight benefits of digital
Bangladesh and assist the marginalized people in availing services of digital
Bangladesh at their doorsteps to improve their living standard and accelerate
rural development.

The chief guest said digital Bangladesh is no longer a dream or a promise
and this is the reality now.

He asked the female journalists to play a stronger role in informing the
common people about various benefits of digitization to achieve the
sustainable development goals.

At the end, the invited guests handed over certificates to participating
female journalists working in the electronic and print media.
