DHAKA, July 22, 2019 (BSS) – Pace bowler Shohidul Islam helped BCB XI rule the day one against Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary’s XI in their third four-day match of the Dr. (capt.) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, known as Mini Ranji Trophy on Monday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Shohidul claimed 5-20 as BCB XI wrapped KSCA Secretary’s XI for 79 after which they ended the day on 135-3, leading the opponents for 56 runs.

Shohidul was ably supported by Ariful Haque’s 3-22 and Ebadat Hossain 2-36 as the local side could survive for just 41 overs after they were sent to bat first.

In his just second over, Shohidul dealt a double blow, sparking a collapse from which the KSCA Secretary’s XI couldn’t recover.

And as Aridul and Ebadat came up as handy support, they didn’t find any way to deal with Bangladeshi bowlers.

The highest run of KSCA came from KS Davaiah who scored 18 runs while Praveen Dubey made 16.

The BCB XI also began with rot when opener Saif Hasan was out for 3, leaving the side 6-1. Shadman Islam and captain Mominul Haque recovered the initial collapse but the latter couldn’t convert his innings, being out on 10.

Shadman went on to score 59 before being dismissed.

Jahurul Islam Omee and Nazmul Hossain Shanto then helped Bangladesh tighten the noose, sharing 39-run for an undefeated fourth wicket stand.

Before the bails were drawn, Omee was batting 28 while Shanto was on 27
