Sampriti Bangladesh demands trial of Priya Saha for falsehood

DHAKA, July 21, 2019 (BSS) – Sampriti Bangladesh, a citizens’ platform promoting secularism, today demanded trail of Priya Saha for making false and fabricated complaints to US President Donald Trump.

“Priya Saha’s complaints of disappearance of 37 million members of Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities from Bangladesh are unrealistic and fabricated,” Sampriti Bangladesh convener Pijush Bandyopadhyay told a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club here.

Expressing strong condemnation and protest against the blatant lies of Priya Saha, he demanded proper investigation over the remarks of Pirya Saha to unmask her ulterior motive.

Moderated by Sampriti Bangladesh Member Secretary Dr Mamun Al Mahtab (Swapnil), former secretary Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Ekushey Television CEO Major General (retd) Mohammad Ali Shikder, columnist Dr Ramanimohan Debnath, Buddhist leaders Milon Vante and Karuna Vante, Hindu leaders Gopal Chakrabarty and Ananda Chandra Baul, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital Director Professor Uttam Kumar Barua and Christian leaders Reverend Martin Adhikari, William Proloy Samadder and Bishop Paul S Sarker were present on the occasion.

Pijush said Priya Saha’s remarks hurt the sentiments of all sensible people in the country.

He termed the incident as a conspiracy to halt the country’s development trend and make Bangladesh friendless. He called upon the people to remain alert so that none can fish in troubled waters capitalizing on it.

Replying to a question, Major General (retd) Mohammad Ali Shikder said Priya Saha committed a major offence against the state. ‘We think the state should take steps against her,” he added.

He said since the 1971 Liberation War, a vested quarter has been hatching conspiracy to harm the communal harmony in the country. An inquiry should be carried out to find out the motive behind Priya’s complaints to the US president, he added.
