DHAKA, July 21, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today shown suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman arrested in a case filed over giving Taka 40 lakh as bribe to an ACC official.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Imrul Qayes passed the order, allowing a plea of investigation officer and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) director Sheikh Md Fanafilla.

Earlier, the ACC director on July 16 filed the case against Mizanur and fellow ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir.

Basir and Mizanur both were suspended from their concerned agencies after the allegations of offering and taking bribe against them were found.

Mizanur leaked a couple of audio clips, saying he has given Taka 40 lakh as bribe to ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir to suppress the graft allegations brought against him. Basir however, dismissed the allegations, saying Mizanur made those audio clips through the help of technology and supplied those to a TV channel.

A Dhaka court on July 2 scrapped a bail plea of Mizanur Rahman and sent him to jail in a graft case.

Earlier on July 1, police took DIG Mizanur Rahman into custody after High Court scrapped his plea for anticipatory bail in the case.

The disgraced senior police official on June 30 filed the plea seeking anticipatory bail in a case lodged over amassing illegal wealth.
