Barguna, July 21, 2019 (BSS)- Ayesha Siddiqua Minni, who was turned from a witness to an accused in the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case here, was denied bail today.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Md. Sirajul islam Gazi rejected Minni’s bail petition moved by her lawyer after long hearing of the both sides, principal lawyer of Minni said.

About 30 lawyers from Dhaka and Barguna bar were present in the court for Minni.

A group of miscreants hacked Rifat Sharif to death in broad daylight on June 26 last in Barguna town in front of his wife Ayesha Siddiqua Minni.

The incident sparked protest across the country as a footage of the incident went viral on social media later.

Rifat’s father Abdul Halim Dulal filed a case with Barguna Police Station accusing 12 in this connection showing Minni as the principal witness.

But, later Abdul Halim accused Munni of having role in his son’s murder. Police also claimed that in the investigation they found Minni’s role in Rifat’s murder.

Police on July 16 showed Minni as an accused of the case instead of a witness.

Police so far arrested 16 accused of the case.
