Speaker Shirin Sharmin returns home after attending HLPF in USA
DHAKA, July 20, 2019 (BSS) – Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin
Sharmin Choudhury returned home today from the USA after attending
Parliamentary Forum at the 2019 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable
Development (HLPF) and related meetings held in New York from July 13 to 18.
Dr Shirin joined as a discussant at a session “Growing Inequalities and
Distrust in Government: Breaking the Cycle” at the UN Conference building on
July 15, said a JS media release.
She also attended, as chief guest, a discussion meeting on SDGs organised
by Permanent Mission of Republic of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
Other member of the Bangladesh delegation is JS secretariat senior
secretary Dr Md Zafar Ahmed Khan.
The HLPF is the United Nations hub for the global review of progress toward
the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
