Bangladesh finish 7th in Indoor Asia Cup Hockey
DHAKA, July 20, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh national hockey team finished seventh position in the Indoor Asia Cup Hockey by crushing Chinese Taipei by 9-0 goals in the 7th place deciding match in Chonburi, Thailand on Saturday.
Bangladesh dominated the entire proceedings and took a 5-0 goal lead at the breather.
In the day’s match, Ashraful Islam, Milon Hossain and Farhad Ahmed Shitul scored a brace each while Russell Mahmud Jimmy, Korshedur Rahman and Mainul Islam Koushik scored one goal apiece for Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh hockey team is expected to return home on Monday (July 22).
Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Malaysia 6-0 in their group opening match and suffered 8-0 defeat to defending champions Iran in their second match before bounced back to register an overwhelming 9-0 drubbing over Philippines in their third group match.
The boys in red and green lost to Thailand by 3-1 margin in their last group match to finish fourth position in the points table.
