DHAKA, July 19, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said now BNP has nothing to do without complaining against the government following the party’s failure in election and movement.

“Police did not obstruct any meeting or rally of BNP. They get permission to hold rally everywhere,” he told a press conference at the AL president’s Dhanmondi political office here.

AL Organizing Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afjal Hossain, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua were present on the occasion.

Mentioning different initiatives taken by the government and the AL for the flood affected people, Quader said a delegation of the party went to Jamalpur and Gaibandha to distribute relief goods among flood victims.

Asked about the political future of Jatiya Party (JP), the AL general secretary said JP is the main opposition party in parliament and they have a number of seats in the Jatiya Sangsad. The party, which exercises time-befitting politics, will exist in politics, he added.

Replying to a question about ACC chairman’s remarks on corruption, he said corruption is corruption and there is no way to consider it differently.

It is not clear what the ACC chairman wanted to mean by saying ‘mistake committed in good faith’, he said.

Asked what steps will be taken against those who violated party command in election, Quader said show-cause notices have been served. Steps will be taken on the basis of their reply, he added.
