4 national players join Bangladesh A team to prepare for SL tour
DHAKA, July 17, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) drafted four national players in the Bangladesh A team for the one-day series against Afghanistan A in a bid to help them take a good preparation for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh A will play a five-match one-day series against the second string Afghans side, slated to begin on July 19 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Sabbir Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Rubel Hossain and Mohammad Mithun who are in the Bangladesh squad for Sri Lanka tour have already joined the Bangladesh A team in Chittagong.
They will play first two matches in the series on July 19 and 21 before heading to Sri Lanka with the national team, who leaves the country on July 23.
Saifuddin was the second best Bangladesh bowler after Mustafizur Rahman in the World Cup, taking 13 wickets in seven matches. Fast bowler Rubel Hossain got the chance to play in just two matches in which he took just one wicket.
Sabbir and Mithun, the two middle order batsmen couldn’t fare well in World Cup also. While Mithun scored just 47 runs in three matches, Sabbir made 36 in two matches.
But the BCB kept faith on them and included them in the Sri Lanka bound team.
