BCB XI trails by 70 runs despite Taijul’s six-for

DHAKA, July 17, 2019 (BSS) – Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam continued his rich vein of from, claiming a six-wicket haul but BCB XI is in danger of conceding first innings lead against Dr. DY Patil Cricket Academy in Dr. (capt.) K. Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, considered as Mini Ranji Trophy.

After ending the day two, they were 261-5 in its first innings, in reply of Patil Cricket Academy’s 331 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. With five wickets at hands, they are now still trailing by 70 runs.

Nurul Hasan Sohan was batting on 67 while Saif Hasan on 27, after adding 62 runs in an undefeated sixth wicket partnership.

The BCB XI got off to a good start thanks to openers Jahurul Islam Omee and Shadman Islam as they shared 93 runs for the opening stand.

But both of them were dismissed in identical 49 runs. Mominul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto, the centurion of the previous match, couldn’t make their start count as their side suffered a collapse.

Mominul scored just 18 while Shanto chipped-in-with 34 runs.

Nurul Hasan steadied the ship with Saif before Ariful Haque (14) also was removed with paltry score.

Resuming the day on 300-8, Patil Cricket Academy added just 31 runs to their overnight total to be bowled out for 331 runs.

Taijul Islam grabbed those two wickets to take his haul to 6-144. He snapped up 8-89 in the first match against Vidarbha Cricket Association to take his overall tally to 14.

Asahy Sardesai, who was not out on 112, scored 26 more to be out for 128 runs.
