Govt. determined to end child labour by 2030: Monnujan
DHAKA, July 16, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian today said that the government is working relentlessly to abolish child labour by 2030 as per the commitment to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“The government has identified 38 works as hazardous for children…At least one lakh children involved with hazardous industrial works will be provided with education and training for a better future. Child Labour will be put to an end within 2030”, she told the DC Conference at the cabinet division at the secretariat.
Monnujan also said that Shrimp Processing and Export industry and garments industry have already been declared as child labour free industries.
The ministry, she said, is working to end child labour in more 11 hazardous works.
She said that the DC’s have a crucial role to play towards eliminating child labour and urged them to help the government to this end.
