12 more union inundated afresh in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, July 16, 2019 (BSS) – Flood situation of Dhobaura upazila has worsened further due to on rush of hilly water and heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours and inundating afresh 12 more unions of Haluaghat Upazila.

According to the District Relief and Rehabilitation Office, the newly affected villages are – Dhara, Dhoril, Jamtoil, Bildora, Norail, Shakail, Shadeshi, Bhoban Kora, Jugli, Kaichapur, Gazirbita and Haluaghat.

Earlier, seven unions of Dhobaura upazila were inundated affecting about 60 thousand family completely and over 17,000 families partially in Dhobaura upazila.

The bordering Netie River is flowing 15.20 cm above the danger level sources said.

The government has sanctioned Taka 50,000 as GR cash for the flood victims of Haluaghat upazila and Taka one lakh as GR cash and 10 metric tonnes of rice for Dhobaura upazila of the district.

In total over 24,000 families of 157 villages of 19 unions of the two upazila were affected by the flood and standing crops of about 257 hectares of land including vegetable fields, Aus and Aman seed beds were damaged.

Meanwhile over 3,000 packets of dry-food have been distributed among the affected families of Dhobaura upazila. District and upazila administration are monitoring the situation closely.

Officials said all kinds of preparations have been taken to face any critical situation.
