HC orders BNP’s Shimul Biswas to surrender
DHAKA, July 15, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered BNP
chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul
Biswas to surrender before a lower court within two weeks in a case lodged
over obstructing police in observing their duties.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Jahangir Hossain and
Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order after holding hearing on a plea
for bail for Biswas in the case.
Police filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station for allegedly
obstructing police in observing their duties while Khaleda Zia was on her way
to appear before a court on November 16, 2017. Charge sheet in the case was
filed on November 20, 2018, with Shimul Biswas name on it.
