Call to properly utilise SRDLs to enhance youth skills

RANGPUR, July 14, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a programme said proper
utilisation of Sheikh Rassel Digital Labs (SRDLs) could play vital role in
transforming villages into towns by enhancing skills of young students on
information and communication technologies (ICT).

They expressed the views today at a seminar on ‘Role of Sheikh Rassel
Digital Labs in Improving Quality of Education’ at the conference room of
Deputy Commissioner in the city.

The district administration organised the event with the assistance of the
‘Establishment of computer and language training labs in educational
institutions across the country project’ of the Directorate of Information
and Communication Technology (ICT).

Heads of all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions
having SRDLs from allover the district participated in the seminar.

Assistant Project Director of the project Abul Fatah Md. Baligur Rahman
attended the seminar as the chief guest with Acting Deputy Commissioner Syed
Farhad Hossain in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Arafat Rahman, District
Education Officer Rokhsana Pervin, Taraganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO)
Aminul Islam and Pirganj UNO TMA Momin also spoke.

The chief guest urged authorities of educational institutions for ensuring
best utilisation of SRDLs so that those could play important role in
transforming villages into towns on way to build a developed Bangladesh by
2041.

Arafat said the labs are contributing to improving quality of education and
providing training on nine different languages and enhancing ICT skills of
young students also helping them in earning from outsourcing jobs.

Other speakers stressed on ensuring proper utilisation and maintenance of
laptops, printers, scanners, multi-media projectors, routers and equipments
at SRDLs to create ample scope for young students of easily learning their
lessons.
