HC wants info on steps taken after Fulbari rape
DHAKA, July 14, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today wanted to know the
steps taken by local authorities over the rape of a mentally challenged
schoolgirl and the settlement of the issue at Taka 14 thousand in Fulbari
upazila of Dinajpur.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and
Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order, asking the deputy attorney general
Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar to let it know by July 21 the steps taken by
superintendant of police, upazilla nirbahi officer (UNO) and officer in-
charge of local police station in this regard.
The court also wanted to know whether the culprit has been arrested so far
and any case was filed.
The High Court came up with the order as Supreme Court lawyer Barrister
Abdul Halim drew court’s attention to a newspaper report on the incident.
