Speaker mourns death of lawmaker Rushema

DHAKA, July 10, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Rushema Begum, a member of parliament (MP) in women’s reserved seat from Faridpur constituency.

Rushema died of cardiac arrest at Faridpur Heart Foundation Hospital last night (Tuesday) at the age of 85.

Dr Chaudhury, in a condolence message, prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Rushema and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

In a another message, Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah, deputy leader in the parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury and chief whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury also expressed shock at her death.

Rushema was the wife of Imamuddin Ahmed, former president of Faridpur district unit of Awami League and a close aide of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
