Multilateral partnership will accelerate SDGs attainment: Tazul

DHAKA, July 07, 2019 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today focused on ensuring multilateral partnership through exchanging mutual knowledge and experiences and technological and financial assistances to accelerate attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Ensuring multilateral partnership through exchanging mutual knowledge and experiences and technological and financial assistances will accelerate attainment of SDGs,” he said.

The minister was addressing the inaugural function of a two programme on the occasion of 40th founding anniversary of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) at the CIRDAP International Conference Center (CICC) in the city, said a press release here.

Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio T Bandillo and Rural Development and Cooperative Division Secretary Md Kamal Uddin Talukder addressed the function as special guests while CIRDAP Director General Tevita G Boseiwaqa Taginavulau delivered welcome address.

Tazul said CIRDAP has been playing a remarkable role in poverty alleviation and improving fate of the rural people of Asia and the Pacific Region for the last 40 years.

A total of 15 member countries of the CIRDAP, established by Asia and the Pacific Region countries and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), are being benefited by different activities of the organization, the minister said.

He hoped that it will play more effective role in the future in rural development in the developing countries.

Later, Tazul Islam inaugurated the e-Library of the CIRDAP and Rural Development Fair. He visited different stalls in the fair.
