Maritime ports advised to keep hoisted signal 3

DHAKA, July 7, 2019 (BSS) – The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,
Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal
number three as squally weather is likely to affect maritime ports, North Bay
and adjoining coastal areas due to influence of steep pressure gradient.

“Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and
adjoining area due to influence of steep pressure gradient that persists over
North Bay. So, the maritime ports are advised to keep hoisted local
cautionary signal number three,” said a Met Office weather bulletin today.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain
close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,
West Bengal, to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its
associated trough extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh
and strong over North Bay.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind
is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka,
Barishal & Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rajshahi and Khulna
divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the
country.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
