Maritime ports advised to hoist signal 3

DHAKA, July 6, 2019 (BSS) – The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as squally weather is likely to affect maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas due to influence of steep pressure gradient that persists over North Bay.

“Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining area due to influence of steep pressure gradient that persists over North Bay. So, the maritime ports are advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three,” said a Met Office weather bulletin today.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic west Bengal, thence north-eastwards to Assam across Bangladesh. One of its associated trough extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over southern part of the country.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
