Lanka beat Bangladesh in FIBA Asia Basketball

DHAKA, July 4, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh basketball team suffered a jolt as lost to their Sri Lanka counterpart by 70-42 points in a match of the South Asian zonal qualifying round of 3rd Dhaka Bank FIBA Asia U-16 Basketball championship begins tomorrow ( Wednesday) at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium.

The winners’ led by 35-19 points at the breather.

Earlier, in the day’s first match, Sri Lanka beat Nepal by 62-55 points after dominating the first half by 40-27 points while India thrashed the Maldives by 108-09 points after leading the first half by 53-03 points in the day’s second match.

The closing ceremony of the tournament will be held tomorrow (Friday) at the same venue with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal MP is expected to present on the occasion and distribute the prizes.

Apart from host Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives and Bhutan are taking part in the championship sponsored by Dhaka Bank and organized by Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF).
