BCB announces Bangladesh A team for Afghanistan series

DHAKA, July 4, 2019 (BSS) – A number of the national discard players were included as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 14-member team for the series against Afghanistan A team on Thursday.

Opener Imrul Kayes and Anamul Haque Bijoy were the notable inclusion while the selectors also gave some youngsters a chance to show their mettle.

Pace bowler Taskin Ahmed and promising opener Saif Hasan, who was regarded as the future prospect of the country’s cricket, were ignored for the time being.

Afghanistan A team who reached Dhaka on Monday will play a two-match four-day and five-match one-day series against Bangladesh A team.

In their month long tour to the country they will play in three venues against the second string Bangladesh side.

Simon Helmut will be the head coach for Bangladesh A team but the captain’s name is yet to be announced.

The first four-dayer is scheduled to take place at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna from July 5-9. The two teams then will travel to Chittagong where they will play the second four-day match from July 12-15 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS).

The ZACS will host first three one-day match on July 21, 23 and 24.

The fourth and fifth one-day will be held in BKSP on July 27 and 29. The Afghans will depart the country on July 30.
