Bangabandhu worked to establish a non-communal Bangladesh: Kamal

DHAKA, July 2, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today
said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman worked to
establish a non-communal Bangladesh.

“Bangabandhu dreamt for a non-communal Bangladesh which reflects on the
four fundamental principles–Secularity, Nationalism, Democracy and
Socialism– of the 1972 constitution. Now Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is
implementing the ideals of Bangabandhu,” he said.

The minister came up with the comments at a programme titled “Towards the
Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu and a harmonious Bangladesh” held at CIRDAP
auditorium here organised by ‘Sampriti Bangladesh’, a platform working to
promote secularism.

“After the assassination of Bangabandhu, provocative measures were taken
to spread communalism. Militancy was pampered and patronised stately. But
under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is advancing rapidly
upholding the spirit of liberation war,” Kamal said.

While addressing the programme, State Minister for Information Dr Murad
Hasan said Bangladesh is now a role model of development to the world.

“The liberation war was not occurred to make a communal Bangladesh. We
want to represent our country as a modern, developed and digitalised nation
to the world,” he added.

Former President of the National Press Club Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, MP,
Aroma Dutta, MP, Sampriti Bangladesh Member Secretary Mamun Al Mahtab
Swapnil, former Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical
University Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, former Secretary of Cultural
Affairs Ministry Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed, among others, addressed the seminar
with academic Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury in the chair.
