Rifat’s family gets relief after Nayan’s death in gunfight
BARGUNA, July 02, 2019 (BSS) – The family of Rifat Sharif got relief as
prime accused of Rifat murder case Nayan Bond was killed in a gunfight with
police here early morning.
A team of police has been deployed to provide adequate security to Rifat’s
family as they were receiving threats from cohorts of Nayan, who was a
notorious criminal of the respective area, police sources said.
On June 26, Nayan along with his several accomplices hacked Rifat with
sharp weapons in front of his wife Ayesha Siddiqua Minni near Barguna
Government College in Barguna town, in the broad daylight.
Later, Rifat died in Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Police said acting on a tip-off, a team of police went to Purkata village,
ten kilometers away from Barguna Zila Sadar, to arrest the key accused Nayan
Bond when he along with his associates opened fire at the police in the
aforesaid area, forcing the policemen to retaliate triggering a gunfight.
Barguna Police Super Maruf Hossain confirmed that Nayan died on the spot,
while four policemen including additional superintendent of police Shahjahan
Mia were injured in the attack.
Getting news of Nayan’s death, Dulal Sharif, father of Rifat, urged law
enforcers to arrest two other major accused – Rifat Farazi and his younger
brother Rishan Farazi – and ensure maximum punishment for them.
Police Super Maruf said police have arrested eight suspects in connection
with a case so far.
Dulal Sharif lodged a murder case with Barguna Sadar police station on June
27.
