Closing parade of DEA held at BNA

DHAKA, July 2, 2019 (BSS) – The closing parade of the Direct Entry Officer
(DEA) batch no-2019/A has taken place at the Bangladesh Naval Academy (BNA)
at Patenga in Chattogram.

Area Commander of Chittagong Naval Rear Admiral M Abu Ashraf accepted the
salute as the chief guest after observing the parade and march-past, said an
ISPR press release here today.

A total of 13 Direct Entry Officers were adorned with rank badges in the
programme.

Acting Sub-Lieutenant Umayer Alam attained ‘Bir Srestha Ruhul Amin’ gold
medal award by getting highest marks in all subjects.

The chief guest recounted the immense contribution of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the Liberation War and paid respects to
the deceased navy officers and freedom fighters who made the ultimate
sacrifice in 1971.

He also said that, under the guidance and leadership of Bangabandhu’s
daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country has taken great leaps of
development and advancement in both its economic and military sectors, with
the navy in particular undergoing considerable improvement.

Several other high-ranking officials, eminent locals, civil servants,
journalists and families of the graduating sailors were present at the event.
