3 killed Uber driver to snatch car: DMP

DHAKA, June 30, 2019 (BSS) – The motive behind the murder of Uber driver Arman, 40, who was killed on June 13 night at Uttara, was to take away his Toyota Allion car, nothing else.

Additional commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of police of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Abdul Baten told journalists at a press conference at DMP media centre here this afternoon.

“Three people killed Arman in a planned way to snatch the vehicle of Ride Sharing Company Uber . . . Sijan was the main perpetrator of the killing,” Baten said.

Three suspected killers – Sijan, 24, Sharif, 19, and Sajib, 20 – were arrested after raids at different areas of Dhaka and outside, the DB official added.

Two knives used in the brutal murder were also recovered from their possessions.

“They (murderers) killed him (Uber driver) by stabbing with a sharp weapon in front of the house no 52, road no 16, sector -14 under Uttara West Police Station on the night of June 13 last.

Police are quizzing them, he added.
