Skill enhancement of BBS officials stressed for better census

RANGPUR, June 30, 2019 (BSS) – Enhancing skill of field level officials
of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) is crucial to strengthen the process
of collecting and compiling standard information on agricultural census for
preparing a time-befitting and database.

High officials of BBS made the observation at inaugural function of a
four-day training programme on ‘Agricultural Statistics’ held at conference
room of the Divisional Statistics Office in the city today.

The National Strategy for Development of Statistics of BSS under the
Statistics and Information Management Division of Ministry of Planning is
organising the four-day training programme with financial assistance of the
World Bank.

All Deputy Directors, Upazila Statistics Officers and employees from all
58 upazilas under eight districts of Rangpur division are participating in
the training programme.

Director (Administration) of BBS Mohammad Abdul Kadir Mian as the chief
guest attended inaugural function of the training programme being coordinated
by its Rangpur Divisional Joint Director Md. Amjad Hossain.

Mohammad Abdul Kadir Mian and Deputy Director (Agriculture Wing) of BBS
Md. Shafikul Islam are conducting different sessions of the four-day training
programme as Master Trainers.

The chief guest hoped that participating filed level BBS officials and
employees would be able to acquire knowledge, techniques and expertise from
the training programme to enhance their skills in collecting agriculture
related data in future.

“Using collected field level agricultural statistics, BBS will prepare a
proper, more accurate and time-befitting statistics to assist monitoring
process of attaining sustainable development goals and implementation of the
seventh five-year plan,” he said.
