Govt working to build planned city: Enamur
DHAKA, June 29, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Disaster Management and
Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman today said the government is working to build a
planned city through implementing various development programmes.
“We are working relentlessly to make Dhaka city live able ensuring all
civic amenities. Besides, the villages are being upgraded with the facilities
of a town to reduce people’s tendency of moving to large cities.” he added.
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at the two-day 6th Urban
Dialogue on “Live-able City for All” at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate
Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU).
The Department of Disaster Science and Management of DU and Urban INGO
Forum have jointly organized the event.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. ASM
Maksud Kamal delivered the key-note speech.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Md. Shah
Kamal, Country Director of Concern Worldwide AKM Musa, Country Director of
Christian Aid Shakeb Nabi and Dialogue Coordinator AM Nasir Uddin, among
others, addressed, it.
Besides, experts and professionals from different government and non
government organizations are participating in the dialogue.
