Speakers for attaining skills to enhance productivity

DHAKA, June 29, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh needs to enhance productivity of its huge workforce through attaining life skills as well as hard skills to turn the country into a developed nation by 2041, observed speakers at a workshop in the city recently.

Considering this, they said, the government has given the highest priority to skills development and as part of it the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has set the standards of soft skills for the workforce engaged in various jobs.

NSDA organised the workshop on ‘Unveiling the Life Skills Standards’ at Spectra Convention Centre in the city on Thursday, said a press release.

Executive Chairman of the NSDA Md Faroque Hossain attended the workshop as the chief guest while Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Eiko Narita was present as the special guest.

Additional Secretary of the Labour and Employment Ministry Rofiqul Islam and NSDA member Pijush Kanti Dey, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Project Director of the ‘Setting Standard for Life Skills Training’ project Qamruzzaman delivered welcome address while Programme Analyst of the UNFPA Dr Mohammad Munir Hossain made the keynote presentation.
