Potential youths should be entrepreneurs: Nasrul
DHAKA, June 29, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral
Resources Nasrul Hamid today said potential youths should be entrepreneurs
instead of job seekers.
“The government has been giving incentives in various ways for making
entrepreneurs… Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) give
Taka two crore as allocation for a research project in this connection,” he
said.
The state minister said this while addressing the concluding session of a
fair as the chief guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC)
here.
BRAC University organised the fair titled “NRB Jobs Presents National
Career Fair-2019” under the theme of ‘Campus to Corporate’ with its Vice-
Chancellor (VC) Professor Vincent Chang in the chair.
The two-day national career fair ended with huge participation of job
seekers as more than 100 renowned public and private organisations
participated offering multi diversified employment opportunities.
The objective of the fair is to provide a platform to students, who are on
way to graduate or have already graduated, from both public and private
universities and colleges so that they can connect with the country’s leading
employers from different sectors and find their careers that suit their
interests.
Youth and Sports Secretary Dr Jafar Uddin, BRAC University Director
Student Affairs Dilara Afroz Khan Rupa and NRB Jobs BD’s Managing Director
(MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mahbube Elahi Chowdhury also spoke,
among others.
During the fair, “Career Grooming Sessions” were held to make an
opportunity for students to hear from the industry leaders and experts.
Besides, a two-day training on various job related topics was also held
that helped the potential employees to acquire skills that the recruiters are
looking for in addition to their academic knowledge.
“The size of Bangladesh’s economy is growing bigger and there is nothing
to be disappointed about jobs. If you have confidence and uniqueness then you
will get jobs,” Nasrul said.
He urged all youths for getting prepare with the right ideas about good
jobs, adding, “In the next five years, 1,000 engineers will be required in
power sector.”
