Court order on accepting charge sheet in Abrar death case July 25

DHAKA, June 27, 2019 (BSS) -A Dhaka court today set July 25 to pass order on whether to accept charge sheet filed in the case lodged over the death of Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury by a Suprobhat Paribahan bus.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari set the date this morning. Earlier the investigation officer DB inspector Qazi Shariful Islam said he has not found any new information and accused in further investigation in the case.

Earlier on April 25, the detective branch (DB) of police filed charge sheet against owner, driver, conductor and helper of Suprobhat Paribahan in the case lodged over the death of Abrar.

The IO filed two separate charge sheets, one over the death of Abrar and another for hitting another pedestrian Simthia Sultana, before Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court. A total of 32 people have made witnesses in the two charge sheets.

Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus in Pragati Swarani area in the morning of March 19, as he was trying to cross the road.

It was learnt later that the same bus earlier on that morning had struck Simthia, leaving her seriously injured and crushed Abrar as it was trying to flee the scene after the first incident.

Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the bus driver, its helper, conductor and owner of the bus with Gulshan Police Station. The four accused – bus owner Nani Gopal, driver Sirajul Islam, helper Ibrahim, conductor Yasir Arafat.
