Day against drug abuse observed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, June 26, 2019 (BSS) – International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has been observed here today with a call for collective efforts to combat against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Marking the day District Administration and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) jointly organized various programs including rally, discussion and prize-giving ceremony.
Mayor of Rajshahi AHM Khairuzzaman Liton attended the discussion held at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Zila Parishad Auditorium.
Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, DIG of Rajshahi AKM Hafiz Akhter, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Sujayet Islam, Police Super Md. Shahidullah and Additional Director of DNC Zafrullah Kazal also spoke on the occasion while Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque was in the chair.
Mayor Liton said the present government has taken zero tolerance policy against the drug and its illicit trafficking and a large number of drug traders has already been brought under the law.
Social resistance is indispensable to supplement the government efforts to make the nation free from the curse, he said.
