All chemical factories of Old Dhaka to be shifted by 2022: Enamur

DHAKA, June 26, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman today said all chemical factories of old Dhaka will be transferred to Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj on the banks of Dhaleshwari River by June, 2022.

He came up with the announcement after attending a meeting of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief at the Secretariat here.

The meeting of the inter-ministerial Disaster Management Coordination Committee was held presenting the investigation report on the fire incidents of Churihatta of Chawkbazar and Banani area in the capital.

Enamur also said the chemical warehouses will be shifted to Kadamtali and Tongi by June in 2020.

According to the Industries Ministry report, a total of 310 acres of land have been allocated in Sirajdikhan upazila in this regard, he said, adding that a project involving Taka 1,700 crore has also been undertaken by the government.

He said a total of 2,154 plots will be provided, which will be completed by June in 2022 so that the government could fulfill their commitment after ‘Nimtali tragedy’ that took place in 2010.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Disaster Management and representatives from 22 ministries as well as departments.
