Workshop to address commercial sexual exploitation of children held

DHAKA, June 25, 2019 (BSS)- A report sharing session titled “Access to
Justice of Children Victim of Commercial Sexual Exploitation” and closing
workshop of CCSEC Project was held aiming to stop child sexual exploitation
and trafficking in Bangladesh.

Terre des Hommes Netherlands, under “Combating Commercial Sexual
Exploitation of Children (CCSEC) Project in Bangladesh” supported by The
Delegation of the European Union in Dhaka organized the programme at BRAC
Centre Inn, in city’s Mohakhali on Tuesday, said a press release.

In the meeting, speakers discussed about the access to justice of children
victim of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking and suggested the
solution of the problems.

Aroma Dutta MP, Co-Chair, Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights addressed
the workshop as the chief guest while Mahmudul Kabir, Country Director of
Terre des Hommes Netherlands gave the welcome speech and chaired the
dialogue. Advocate Md Tazul Islam, consultant of the research paper, shared
the keynote paper.

Dutta said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given direction to the
ministries concerned to work to stop all kinds of exploitation on children as
per SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

She said no children will be considered as street children within 2025 as
the government has taken various initiatives to rehabilitate them.

Ms Audrey Maillot, Team Leader -Governance Delegation of the European
Union in Bangladesh and Md Moinul Kabir, Additional Secretary, Ministry of
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, among others, addressed the
programme.

Later, a cultural programme was performed by the Children of Sonar Bangla
Children Home in Tangail, an initiative by Society for Social Service (SSS).
