Momen urges all diplomats to attract more foreign investment

DHAKA, June 25, 2019 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen today
said he has already given directives to all the foreign ministry officers to
refocus on their efforts in attracting more foreign investment to the
country.

“I also wrote to our ambassadors abroad to intensify their efforts as well
as sought their views on how we can do better and effectively promote our
trade and investment among foreigners,” he said.

The foreign minister was addressing a seminar titled “Trade and Investment
Opportunities in Bangladesh” at the foreign ministry here today.

Momen said his ministry is playing its role part in the country’s journey
of attracting foreign investment. “We have their (diplomats) views and we are
assessing them while working out appropriate strategy in this regard,” he
added.

He said the foreign ministry has strengthened its capacity and intensified
efforts following the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on pursuing and
emphasising on economic and trade diplomacy.

Foreign Minister said the foreign ministry has established a new division
to deal and coordinate all trade and investment issues with all relevant
national authorities and ministries, including BIDA and BEZA, to closely work
with them.

He said the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasizing on Economic
and Trade Diplomacy helps realizing her dream of building “Sonar Bangla”.

“My Ministry is and will always ready to work closely and coordinate our
national efforts with all the national investment authorities and ministries
to make it happen,” Momen said.

Along with high officials of the foreign ministry, executive chairmen of
BIDA and BEZA and Managing Director of High-Tech Park also attended the
seminar.
