Hearing in Tazreen fire case adjourned till August 4

DHAKA, June 25, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today adjourned till August 4
the hearing in the case lodged over the devastating fire that killed 112
workers and injured many others in a garment factory name Tazreen Fashions in
2012.

Dhaka first additional district and session judge Sharif AM Reza Zaker set
the date as no witnesses turned up to testify today, prompting the
prosecution to plead for time.

A total of 112 workers were burnt to death and more than 200 got injured in
the fire that engulfed the garment factory in Nishchintopur area in Ashulia
on November 24, 2012.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ashulia Police Station Khairul Islam filed the case
for causing loss of lives through negligence the next day.

CID Inspector AKM Mohsinuzzaman Khan on December 22, 2013, filed
chargesheet against 13 including Managing Director of Tazreen Fashions
Mohammad Delwar Hossain and its Chairman Mahmuda Akhter.

Dhaka district and session judge SM Quddus Zaman on September 3, 2015,
framed charges in the case.
