Six members of kidnappers’ gang held in Uttara
DHAKA, JUNE 24, 2019 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)
arrested six members of a kidnapping gang from city’s Uttara area yesterday.
The arrested are Md Masud Rana, 24, Shuvo, 24, Md Hossain Bepari, 22,
Momin Ullah Al Munna, 19, Dulal Sheikh,65 and Md Jakir Ahmed alias Jakir, 23.
Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, senior assistant director of RAB (legal and media
wing), told BSS that acting on s tip-off, they arrested the alleged
kidnappers from the ground floor of an under-construction building at west
Uttara.
RAB 1 commanding officer Lt Col Md Sarwar-Bin-Kashem told BSS that on June
20, when two residents of sector five of Uttara named Nowshad Hossain
Noyon,19, and Fagun Ahmed, 20 were walking, a group of kidnappers picked them
up around 11:30am.
The kidnappers, later, phoned Noyon’s father and demanded Taka 1 lakh from
him. They released the both hostages after getting a payment of Taka 10,000
around 5 pm on the same day.
RAB officials said the kidnappers confessed that they have been involved in
kidnapping for long.
However, two of the gang members – Md Roman, 22, and Bellal, 22, managed
to flee from the scene.
A case has been filed with Uttara West police station in this regard.
