Effective service delivery stressed for attaining SDGs

RANGPUR, June 24, 2019 (BSS) -Effective delivery of government services to common people is crucial to achieve set targets of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) timely by 2030.

Government officials said at a post-rally discussion organised by the district administration at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner on Monday in observance of the International Public Service Day-2019.

The day was observed with the theme of “Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through Effective Delivery of Services, Innovative Transformation and Accountable Institutions” this year.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner inaugurated observance of the day by releasing balloon followed by leading a rally on the streets with participation of officials, employees, civil society members, political leaders and local elite.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Fauzul Kabir, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Abdullah Faruk, Additional Police Super Saifur Rahman and Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Abdul Matin addressed.

The speakers said public servants should acquire adequate knowledge on the digitised information and communication technologies (ICT) to make government services easily available to people without proximity.

The chief guest urged officials to utilise innovative ideas and innovations in reaching services to people for accelerating development to achieve the SDGs timely on way to build a developed digital Bangladesh by 2041.

“Government officials should devote them to deliver services to people with sincerity, dedication and accountability using ICT facilities as effective tools to ensure transparency during their service life.
