Two to die for killing in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR, June 23, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced death penalty
to two men for killing a man over land dispute at Ratnoir village under Birol
upazila of the district in 2004.
Apart from proving death sentence to Jahangir Alam, 35, and Shariful Islam,
33, District Additional and Sessions Judge Md Anowarul Haque also handed down
verdict against 17 people sentencing them to life-term rigorous imprisonment.
The court also fined each convict Tk 10,000.
According to the prosecution, one Abdul Bari and Abdul Kafi were seriously
injured in a clash over land dispute at the village on October 29, 2004. They
were admitted to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where Abdul Bari died
on October 30.
Advocate Abdul Baki, elder brother of Abdul Bari, filed a murder case the
next day accusing 19 people.
Police also submitted the charge sheet accusing the 19 people.
