Mahmudullah on verge of reaching 4000-run club

DHAKA, June 23, 2019 (BSS)- Mahmudullah Riyad needs just 80 run to become the fourth Bangladeshi batsman to reach 4000-run club.

The middle order batsman is expected to achieve the feat when Bangladesh take on Afghanistan at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton on Monday.

The batsman adorably called as ‘Silent Killer’ blasted a whirlwind 50 ball-69 against Australia in a big 382-run chase that Bangladesh eventually lost by 48 runs.

But Mahmudullah’s free flowing batting at one phase raised a prospect of making the unbelievable a believable one.

He didn’t make it true, nonetheless the good thing is that he is back in from what was badly required for Bangladesh.

Now as he needs just 80 runs, Mahmudullah is believed to do it against Afghanistan if he gets considerable number of overs.

Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are the other three batsmen to already reach 4000-run club.

Tamim is in the top of the batting list with 6805 runs in 198 matches with 11 centuries and 47 half-centuries, at an average of 36.19.

Shakib who reached 6000-run club in this ongoing World Cup as of now scored 6142 runs in 203 matches, at an average of 37.45. He has nine centuries and 44 half-centuries under his belt.

Mushfiqur Rahim however is on the verge of being third batsman to reach 6000-run as he has now 5802 runs under his belt in 210 matches. He has already hit seven centuries and 34 half-centuries and possesses the average of 35.59.

Mahmudullah Riyad now has 4920 runs in 180 matches at an average of 34.69. He has three centuries and 21 half-centuries.

Mohammad Ashraful is in the fifth in Bangladesh’s most run-getter list with 3468 runs in 175 matches. He averaged 22.37, hit three centuries and 20 half-centuries in his career.
