Mystery behind Rubel murder unearthed

DHAKA, June 22, 2019 (BSS)- The Dhaka District Detective Branch (DB) of
police has unearthed the mystery of Zakir Hossain Rubel, 33, killing after
nearly six-month of investigation into the case and arrested a suspected
killer from Kholamora area under Keraniganj upazila here last night.

On a tip-off, a team of the DB, Dhaka (South) led by Inspector Nazmul
Hassan conducted a raid in Kholamora area last night and arrested Shafiqul
Islam alias Bahar (18), son of Abdul Baten of Goraipiar village under Ulipur
upazila of Kurigram district.

Bahar was taken to the DB-South office at Keraniganj and interrogated
extensively. At one stage of the interrogation, the mystery behind the
killing was unearthed as he was giving his confessional statement to the
police.

“Bahar confessed to the police that he along with his one friend stabbed
to death Rubel at his rented house in Borishur area of the South Keraniganj
on December 31 last year for money to buy a pistol,” Inspector Nazmul said,
adding that the other accused will also be arrested soon.

Zakir Hossain Rubel, salesman of a cloth store at Alam Super Market in
Keraniganj, used to live alone at a rented house in Borishur area under South
Keraniganj in Dhaka.

Delwar Hossain, brother of the deceased, told BSS that they are happy to
know that the accused of Rubel murder was arrested and they demanded
immediate arrest of the other killers.

Mentionable, a case was filed with South Keraniganj Police Station after
the killing incident.
