Take development schemes preserving water bodies: PM
DHAKA, June 20, 2019 (BSS) – Urging everybody to remain conscious about environmental protection Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said all development projects should be taken by preserving water bodies and sufficient greenery.
She also urged people to go for massive plantation in their homestead and office premises aimed at protecting the environment.
The prime minister said this while inaugurating the World Environment Day, National Tree Fair-2019, Environment Fair-2019 and Tree Plantation Campaign at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) here.
“Take development projects keeping in the mind about its consequences on environment,” she said urging all to come out of the mindset of filling up canals and ponds for carrying out development activities.
Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury and environment secretary Abdullah Al Mohshin Chowdhury spoke, among others, on the occasion.
