Ten special initiatives empowering women in Bangladesh

RANGPUR, June 19, 2019 (BSS) – Successful implementation of the Prime
Minister (PM)’s 10 special initiatives is accelerating women empowerment in
Bangladesh and pace of national development on way to build a developed
country by 2041 next.

Officials and educationists expressed the view at a women rally
organised by District Information Office (DIO) at Taraganj O/A Girls’ School
and College in Taraganj upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The event informed the participating women about goals of visions 2021
and 2041, development plans, Prime Minister (PM)’s 10 special initiatives,
women empowerment, sustainable development goals, preventing militancy,
terrorism and drug abuse.

With Principal of Taraganj O/A Girls’ School and College Md. Shafikul
Islam in the chair, Senior District Information Officer Md. Humayun Kobir
attended the women rally as the chief guest.

Noted educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, Taraganj Upazila Women
Affairs Officer Shahnaz Farhana Afroz, Headmaster of Ekorchali High School
AKM Saiful Islam and Senior Assistant Teacher Laila Sarker addressed as
special guests.

Humayun Kobir delivered keynote presentation in the rally participated
by over 200 female students of the institution, their mothers, women
community leaders and local elite.

He discussed fabulous successes achieved by the government in education,
agriculture, health, improvement of living standard of common people, women
development, poverty alleviation, digitisation, power generation and other
sectors in last ten years.

He narrated progress of implementation of the PM’s ten special
initiatives and successes achieved in preventing child marriage, terrorism
and militancy and ensuring health services and sanitation, vaccination of
babies and hygiene of adolescents.

The speakers lauded the government for execution of multidimensional
programmes like education assistance for female education, cost-free books,
self-employment of women and their participation in elections to accelerate
women empowerment.

Principal Shafikul Islam said Bangladesh achieved a creditable success
in women empowerment following realisation of various visionary programmes
and pragmatic steps, including the Prime Minister’s 10 special initiatives,
in last ten years.
