Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe
DHAKA, June 18, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major
indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with
higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were insurance, textile and financial
institutions. A total of 150 securities of the large-cap group moved up on
higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 24.95 points up
at 5,400.24. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same
trend with 8.29 points up at 1,232.29 and with 5.71 points up at 1,895.11
respectively.
The volume of shares rose to 17.59 crore from Monday’s 16.12 crore shares.
But, the daily turnover in value at DSE decreased to Taka 528.83 crore from
Monday’s Taka 535.28 crore.
At the DSE, price of 196 securities out of the day’s 349 traded issues
closed higher against 105 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Eastern Insurance, Nurani, Zahin Textile,
Midas Finance and Malek Spinning. The major losing issues were Pragati
Insurance, SEMLFBSLGF, Seal Bangla, Dacca Dying and Beach Hatchery.
Eastern Insurance topped the turnover leaders followed by Nurani, JMISMDL,
DSSL and Global Insurance.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward
trend with its major CASPI 86.48 points up at 16,575.30.
At the CSE, 259 issues were traded. Of those, 155 closed higher and 69
closed lower while 1.50 crore shares worth Taka 42.42 crore changed hands.
