DHAKA, June 18, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered
authorities concerned to withdraw date expired medicines from the market and
destroy those in a month.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and
Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order, asking health secretary, director
generals of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Directorate
General of Drug Administration (DGDA) and National Consumer Rights Protection
(NCRP) to submit report on executing today’s order.
The court came up with the order after holding hearing on a writ
petition filed by Barrister Mahfuzur Rahma Milon, executive director of
Justice Watch Foundation.
He filed the writ as different newspapers recently published reports
saying 93 percent pharmacies in the capital sell expired medicines.
