HABIGANJ, June 14, 2019 (BSS) – A college student and a woman were killed
in lightning strikes in Habiganj and Natore districts today.
In Habiganj, Sujon Miah, 18, a resident of Alinagar village under
Chunarughat upazila of the district and also an HSC student of Gazipur High
School and College, was killed when a streak of thunderbolt struck him around
6 am during rain while fishing in a wetland near to his house.
Locals brought him to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors
declared him dead.
At the same time, a buffalo and a cow were also injured by the strike of
another thunderbolt at Chandisara village.
In another incident, Chabily Begum, 50, of Jomainagar village under
Gurudashpur upazila in Natore district, was killed in a lightning strike
around 12.30 pm while working in the field amid rain close to her house.
Critically injured Chabily was sent to a local hospital where on-duty
doctors declared her dead.
Chairman of Nazirpur Union Parishad Sawkat Rana Labu confirmed the
incident.
