Every upazila to get tax office
DHAKA, June 13, 2019 (BSS) – The government is eying to set up tax offices in all upazilas of the country.
Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the government’s main aim is to collect more income tax by broadening the tax base without increasing the tax rate.
“For this purpose, we have taken an initiative to bring new taxpayers under the tax net instead of burdening the existing taxpayers with more tax,” read his budget speech for fiscal 2019-20.
Under this expansion programme, tax offices will be set up in every upazila in Bangladesh and at the field level the number of taxes zones will be increased to 63 from existing 31.
