1.66 lakh rail tickets sold through ‘Rail Sheba’ apps

DHAKA, June 10, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 166,687 rail tickets were sold through mobile applications ‘Rail Sheba’ during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and this digital system reduced pressure on the manual process of selling tickets, said a Railways press release here today.

Some 231,000 android mobile phone users and 10,517 IOS users downloaded the apps to buy rail ticket online, it said.

The release said through the use of ‘Rail Sheba’ apps, around 5 lakh labour hours were saved as compared to collecting tickets from counters standing on long queues.

The passengers had a hassle-free journey by using e-ticket in boarding the trains instead of print copy of the ticket, the release added.

The apps was effective in preventing ‘black market’ of railways tickets, it said.

The Ministry of Railways in association with the Information and Communication Technology Division launched the one-stop ticketing service for railways ‘Rail Sheba’ apps to facilitate the passengers with saving time and cost.

Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan and State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak recently inaugurated the apps at a function in the city.

The people can download the apps from the google ‘Play Store’ on their android mobile phones and easily use it.
